Some may provide direct cash grants, or refer renters to government programs and local charities, and yet other agencies will offer options like the section 8 housing voucher program. Rental Assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or HUD provides rental assistance in 3 ways:
Privately owned subsidized housing – HUD helps apartment owners reeducated rents to low-income tenants
Public Housing – affordable apartments for low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) – find your own place and use the voucher to pay for all or part of the rent.
